The Carolina Fitness
Challenge
CHALLENGE 2010
The 2nd Annual Carolina Fitness Challenge returns to the
Bull City this December! Last year’s event was a big
success with over 115 competitors, 250 attendees, and a
donation made to the John Velandra Memorial Fund. This
year will feature an even bigger crop of competitors,
spectators, events, sponsors, and fun!
Concept
The Carolina Fitness Challenge is modeled on the
CrossFit Games and seeks to determine the Fittest Man
and Fittest Woman in North Carolina, as well as serve as
a tune up for athletes hoping to compete in the 2011
CrossFit Games.

Date
The Challenge will take place on Saturday, December 11,
2010. Athlete check-in will begin at 7am. The first
events will begin soon after 8:30am and the day will
likely end sometime in the late evening. A more detailed
schedule will of the day’s events will be posted soon.
Location
CrossFit Durham, 410 West Geer Street, Durham, North
Carolina. Located in the Trotter Building and adjacent
to Old North Durham Park.

Competitor Eligibility and Fees
The 2010 Challenge is open to all active members of
CrossFit Affiliates in the State of North Carolina and
active duty members of the military currently stationed
in North Carolina. There will be up to 150 total
competitor spots this year for men, women, and masters.
Registration closes on Friday, November 12th. EARLY BIRD
registration fee is $60 before October 15th and $75
thereafter. Competitor registration fee includes event
t-shirt, lunch and drinks, and Progenex Recovery Shakes
post-events. THERE WILL BE NO CANCELLATIONS OR REFUNDS.
Please make sure you can attend if you register.
Registration is CLOSED — all competitor spots have been
filled.
Competitor Categories
There will be a Men’s Open Division and Women’s Open
Division for all athletes and this year we will also
have a Masters Men’s and Women’ Division for athletes 40
years and older. Masters athletes will compete in heats
alongside Open Division athletes, but will be scored
separately.
Scaling
Competitors may scale loads during events in order to
participate. Scores for scaled events will rank below
those scores of events completed as prescribed.
Prizes
Sponsor prize packages will be awarded to the top
athletes in all divisions.
Spectators
Spectator registration fee is $20 for adults and $15 for
kids under 16 and includes lunch and drinks. Kids under
10 are free. We ask that spectators register prior to
November 30th so we can plan for the right amount of
food and drinks. THERE WILL BE NO CANCELLATIONS OR
REFUNDS. Register here – be sure to choose Adult/Child
Food and Drinks
A BBQ lunch and drinks throughout the day will be
provided for all competitors and spectators. In
addition, our sponsor, Progenex, will be providing their
Recovery shake for all athletes after every event.
Athletes should bring their own shakers if possible.
Weather and Equipment
There will likely be at least one event held outside in
Old North Durham Park adjacent to the gym. Athletes and
spectators should be prepared and dress accordingly.
Athletes should bring any equipment (wrist wraps, tape,
hand grips, weight belt, jump rope) they feel they may
need.
Judges
We need judges for the event! Judges must be CrossFit
Level I Certified at a minimum. All judges will receive
free lunch and free event t-shirt. If you are interested

sponsors will be given prominent display space in both
the spectator and competition areas on the day of the
