2010 NGA Mountain States Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Pro Qualifier Competition Recap

2010 NGA Mountain States Natural Contest Results

Logan, Utah- The NGA Mountain States Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Pro Qualifier showcased some of the best natural athletes in the mountain state region. It was held at Mount Logan Middle School in downtown Logan, Utah on 22 May 2010.
The 1st through 3rd place Novice winners received beautiful trophies from Neils Andersen Trophies.

The teens were led by T.J Moser, a wide receiver on the Weber State University football team. Moser displayed well developed muscle development for a teen. Obviously he has taken his football workouts in the gym seriously and has packed on some thick muscle. He fought off tough competition from Bradley Richens who placed 2nd and Trel Fonnesbeck who followed a close third.

The Men’s Masters showed that being older only means that your physique gets better. Like a fine wine…..the older……the better! Jeff Chin came in thick muscled with very good conditioning. Chin was able to hold off strong competition from ultra ripped 2nd place finisher Dave Richens and 3rd place Aaron Hergesell of Idaho. Aaron looked the best I have seen him look and will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the future in the Masters Division!

The Men’s Novice Light Division displayed polished physiques. Teens winner T.J. Moser was again too much too handle for his fellow competitors. Adam Baker placed 2nd and was closely followed by Jeff Chin. The Men’s Novice Middle Division was a closely fought battle between Shaun Lavender, Jason Stubblefield and Layne Nelson. Shaun showed lots of muscle from his hard work in the gym and beat out 2nd place finisher Jason Stubblefield and 3rd place Layne Nelson.

Women’s Bodybuilding featured 3 tough ladies who packed shredded muscle on their physiques that said, “Women’s Bodybuilding is here to stay!” Cate Carpenter of Idaho took 1st with her ripped and striated physique. Her feminine muscularity and excellent posing showed she is the lady to beat on the bodybuilding circuit! She was followed closely by Heather Talbot, a former Figure competitor who wanted to try her luck as a bodybuilder and she held her own. Heather had caps on her shoulder that even the men bodybuilders would dream of. Look for Heather to continue her assault on the women’s bodybuilding stage! In 3rd place was Melanie Lance who also showed that women can pack on the muscle, yet look very beautiful as well as feminine.

Mixed Pairs followed the Women’s Bodybuilding with Trevor Hayes and Heather Talbot putting together a harmonious routine that showcased their physiques working together as one. Trevor and Heather’s physiques complimented one another and the audience enjoyed seeing this “forgotten” category in the bodybuilding world. I would love to see Mixed Pairs make a comeback as this is always a crowd favorite.

This year the Mountain States competition added a Bikini category and the audience exploded with excitement. Some of the most beautiful ladies ever to don a swimsuit stepped on stage to the appreciative crowd. Taking first place was Karlie Hoskins followed by Amara Kockler and Deja Dowling respectively.

After intermission, was the Ms Figure Masters Division. Kellie Hergesell of Idaho finally took 1st Place in the very competitive Masters Class. Kellie earned her Masters Figure Pro Card beating out Stephanie Erickson and Ginger Nay respectively. Kellie looked fantastic in her pink suit which complimented her defined, athletic physique. Look for Kellie to continue her dominance at the Masters Figure level.

In the Figure Short Class, the ladies displayed excellent poise and stage presence. The Short Class began the Figure round. Lindy Hicks of Rock Springs, Wyoming took 1st Place. Her beauty and fine symmetry combined to make her unbeatable this night. She will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in 2010! Heather Deputy took a close 2nd and 3rd Place went to Kellie Hergesell. Look for all three to be knocking on the top spot in future competitions!

The Tall Class featured athletic physiques and beautiful symmetry. These ladies came to compete and it showed! Julianne Douglas came with the complete package….beauty, femininity, and well defined shapely muscles. Julianne took a hard fought 1st place followed by Georgia Reeder and Natalie Thompson respectively.

Now for the beef…..the Open Men! The Open Lightweights were led by Mr. striated, Dave Richens and followed closely by Aaron Hergesell and David Stolworthy of Idaho respectively. The Middleweights were led by Pete Stokes of Layton, Utah who showed good things come in little packages! Pete packed 160 pounds of solid muscle on his physique and needed every ounce of that muscle to beat an equally amazing physique from Angel Garrido. Angel and Pete will no doubt continue to fight for that top spot in the future as both have the diet down! Following Pete and Angel in 3rd was Jason Kennedy. The Open Heavyweight Class was the best I have ever seen! Shawn McFerrin of Idaho closely beat out Kevin Stoddard of Utah and followed by Landon Duane. Shawn and Kevin have probably the best two physiques in the business! Both Shawn and Kevin pack in enormous amount of muscle on their physiques and yet come in striated and vascular. Look for these two to battle it out on the Pro stage!

The Overall Open Champion went to Pete Stokes, who is as humble as they come and well respected by his peers. He was awarded a leather jacket for his victory. Lindy Hicks won the Overall Figure title. Both earned their Pro Cards with their victories.
